We covered eSight’s high-tech glasses that help the visually impaired in the last summer. This year at CES 2022, the company announced its partnership with Gentex Corporation for the next generation of digital eyewear.
eSight is a cutting-edge organization working to enhance vision through assistive devices for the visually impaired. They are the developers of all-in-one medical eyewear that helps compensate for more than 20 eye conditions including diabetic retinopathy. The eyewear improves functional vision for people with low vision. On the other hand, Gentex is a tech company that supplies electro-optical products to automotive, aerospace and fire protection industries. It is known for being the major supplier of advanced electronic features to optimize driver vision.
eSight hopes to improve their design, production capability, and accessibility through the new partnership. Brian McCollum, the eSight Chief Commercial Officer mentioned that their devices can change the lives of millions of people around the world who live with low vision. “By harnessing Gentex’s expertise in digital vision technologies, we hope to make our vision enhancement platform even more functional and accessible.”
eSight’s current product, eSight 4 was released in July 2021. It is a wireless and hands-free device with built-in software and controls. The eyewear has a high-resolution camera and lens along with two high-resolution screens: one for each eye. The adjustable screen distance allows a perfect view. The users can see tiny details with an option to zoom up to 24 times. They can shift between 5 preset modes: TV, reading, outdoor, indoor, and custom mode. eSight4 comes with headset controls and a wireless remote. The device also has mobile apps compatible with Apple and Android.
We hope to see even better features, small sized-design, and a reduced cost as a result of this new partnership.
