It’s too easy to assume that Apple, Samsung, Fitbit, and Garmin have nailed down the entire smartwatch market, but those companies don’t own the space yet, especially when you consider extreme sports, extreme weather, and rough handling. Mobvoi recently introduced the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS. Later this year, Mobvoi intends to launch the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra, with 4G LTE cellular connectivity. Mobvoi’s new smartwatch for diehard athletes is an upgrade for the equally impressive but not quite so tough TicWatch Pro 3 GPS.
One major area of improvement in the new smartwatch is its MIL-STD-810G military spec materials. According to Mobvoi, the new smartwatch withstands extreme temperatures, humidity, solar radiation, shock, and low pressure. IP68 rated, the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS withstands dust, dirt, and sand as well as submersion in up to 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes. Mobvoi also claims up to 40% faster performance compared to the previous model thanks to a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 Platform and a fast app-loading dual processor chipset made by Mobvoi. The watch runs Google’s Wear OS. Battery life is up to 72 hours in Smart Mode or 45 days with limited app use in Essential Mode.
This watch is for a lot more than just exercise. Connectivity matters when you’re on the go and the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS includes two-way text, weather alerts, news, calendar and schedule support, and Spotify music control. On-board sensors include an accelerometer, gyro sensor, HD PPG heart rate sensor, SpO2 sensor, low latency off-body sensor, and a barometer and compass. The TicHealth app monitors heart rate, mental fatigue, and energy levels. Mobvoi claims the watch automatically alerts you if your heartrate is too fast, too slow, or irregular. You can see the TicHealth reports on the watch or on the Mobvoi app running on an associated smartphone. If you want contact-free shopping, the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS also supports Google Pay.
If your daily life isn’t rugged enough to push your performance, the TicWatch has more than 20 fitness workouts with real-time statistics and workout summaries, all displayed on the watch or the smartphone app.
The Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS is for sale now on the Mobvoi website and Amazon for $300. The LTE version is scheduled to launch in November for $330.
