How would you like to manage your medical records or find the nearest hospital from the Apple Watch on your wrist? Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles has an app for that and more.
The Cedars-Sinai app also allows patients to communicate with doctors, check lab results and schedule appointments. Need to find a doctor? The app helps patients search for doctors by name, specialty, condition or location. Looking for the nearest Cedars-Sinai urgent care, hospital or medical office? Yep, that, too. The app can even help find nearby restaurants. Patients with My CS-Link accounts can download their health record to Apple Health and access it wherever they are. Those patients also can add information to their medical records such as steps, blood pressure, glucose levels and body-mass index.
“Whether patients are at one of our hospitals, medical offices or at home, our goal is to leverage technology to put their health records in their hands by meeting them where they are,” said Darren Dworkin, Cedars-Sinai Chief Information Officer. “By expanding access to the Cedars-Sinai app on the Apple Watch, we can bring a whole new level of accessibility to our patients,” said Matthew Pufall, mobile product manager at Cedars-Sinai. The app is free and pairs with iPhones. Search for it in the App Store by entering “Cedars-Sinai.” The app also is available for iPad and Android phones.
This is an important step in making it easier and more efficient for patients to access their medical information and to contact healthcare professionals. It is reasonable to expect that this sort of program will lead to more effective treatment, better outcomes, and cost savings.
