We used to call it “portable computing,” and then “mobile computing,” but the bits have become small enough that we can simply attach them to our body somehow so now we call it “wearable technology.” Google Glass may get the headlines, but the fact is that the fitness wristbands are getting the bulk of the income. (See “Fitbit Leads the Wearables World: Canalys” on Wearable Tech Insider.) But the burning question is this: Which device is best?
The folks at Living in Digital Times plan to answer that question later this month during CE Week in New York City. They are putting on a “Battle of the Bands” on Wednesday, June 25 at 12:30 to 1:30 PM at the Metropolitan Pavilion on 125 West 18th Street. Representatives from the top fitness band manufacturers will make presentations about their products, and the audience will vote for the winner at the conclusion.
This event follows the same format that Living in Digital Times uses for their popular events at CES in Las Vegas: “Last Gadget Standing” and “Mobile Apps Showdown.”
