Honeywell Genesis Touch

When healthcare professionals can track a patient’s vital signs and biometric data outside of a hospital or other clinical setting, outcomes are improved and costs are lower. Honeywell Life Care Solutions has just released the latest version of their Genesis Touch system that makes remote tracking easier and more flexible.

The key component of the system is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 with both WiFi and 4G cellular data support, modified to become a dedicated FDA-registered personal health device. The user-friendly touchscreen interface makes it easy for users to enter their data. The tablet also pairs with select Bluetooth-enabled devices, including weight scales, blood pressure monitors, and pulse oximeters. It can also connect wireless with glucometers from Bayer, Johnson & Johnson, and myglucohealth. The wireless connection means that the data can be recorded automatically, with no chance for entry errors.

The system also supports two-way video conversations between patients and healthcare professionals, making it easier, more convenient, and less expensive to have face-to-face interactions. It includes interactive education content to help patients be better informed about their conditions and treatment. Perhaps most of important, the system is built from the ground up to provide end-to-end security of the data, for HIPAA-compliant operations. This is a platform that can easily adopt new components, such as wearable sensors, as they become available.
